FAQ

The questions people ask before they call

If your question is not here, ask it. We would rather answer than have you guess, and there is no cost to asking.

01

Working together

Reach out and we will schedule a consultation. We promise to bring you value from the first meeting, which means you should leave it knowing something useful about your own situation whether or not you decide to work with us.

Tailored wealth management and planning. The team specializes in retirement planning with a focus on portfolio growth, income distributions, tax efficiency, and protection for your future, your eventual family inheritance, and your charitable giving.

A financial consultant goes beyond basic investment information to help you understand how to reach what you actually want. We sit down and look at the best ways to put your money to work toward the life you are planning for.

We have offices in Roanoke and Harrisonburg, and we love it when clients visit during business hours. Evenings and weekends are available by appointment. We also meet clients in Botetourt and in Myrtle Beach, and we work with clients across the country. If getting to an office is difficult, tell us and we will work out the best way to meet.

Send us a message through the contact page or book a time directly on Steve's calendar. Tell us what is prompting the call, and we will come to the first meeting prepared for it.

02

Retirement

Yes. That is the question a lot of people arrive with. We look at what you have, what you expect to spend, and what income you can count on, then build a distribution plan aimed at the retirement lifestyle you want.

That is more common than people expect, and it is a real planning problem rather than a personal failing. Michelle is a Certified Next Chapter Lifestyle Planner, and purpose, identity, structure, and relationships are part of the plan we build with you.

There are many ways to pursue financial growth, including investments, savings strategies, budgets, insurance, and tax strategies. Your goals decide which approach fits. That is why we start with the goals rather than the products.

03

Estate and legacy

It is more common than you might expect. When we began asking clients directly, many of them told us they had never put one in place. That is why we made estate planning a core part of the practice rather than an occasional referral.

No. We do not provide legal or tax advice. We review what you have, identify gaps and conflicts, and coordinate with your attorney and tax professional so the financial plan and the legal documents actually agree with each other.

Yes. We help with beneficiary designations and work to minimize your exposure to estate taxes and probate costs, with the goal of preserving your estate for your intended heirs.

04

Business owners

It starts with four questions: how much of your net worth is locked in the company, whether you can extract that value, what the company is worth to a buyer, and what happens if the exit is forced. Steve holds the Certified Exit Planning Advisor designation and works through those with owners.

Yes. We customize company retirement plans based on analysis, and we work with Innovative Insurance Group on group health, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage. Our insurance audit program gives you an independent read on whether your current plans are appropriate and competitively priced.

05

The firm

The practice has served clients since 1998, helping them protect assets and plan retirements they actually enjoy.

Our tagline is relationship, expertise and service, and the order is deliberate. Clients get people who know what they are doing, and they get people who pick up the phone when life is hard. Both matter, but the relationship is the part clients tell us they value most.

It shapes how this team treats people, and clients tend to notice it without being told. We are not going to hide it, and you will get the same care whether or not you share it.

Yes. We are training the next group of advisors and investing in people who want to help others. If that describes you, the careers page explains what we are looking for and how to reach us.
