Accessibility

We serve a lot of people who use larger text, keyboards instead of a mouse, or a screen reader. This site is built with that in mind, and we want to hear about anything that gets in your way.

What we aim for

We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. That is a target we work toward continuously rather than a certification, and we fix what we find.

What that means in practice

  • Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
  • A skip link at the top of every page jumps straight to the main content.
  • Headings follow a real outline, so screen reader navigation by heading works.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Form fields have visible labels, and errors are announced and linked to the field they belong to.
  • Text and interface colors are checked for contrast in both the light and dark themes.
  • Animation respects your system setting. If you have reduced motion turned on, movement and animated backgrounds are switched off.
  • Page content is readable without JavaScript, and layouts reflow without horizontal scrolling down to small screens.

Known limitations

Some pages use decorative animated backgrounds that require WebGL. If your device or browser does not support it, or you have reduced motion enabled, those layers simply do not render and no content is lost. Content on sites we link to, including the scheduling calendar and regulatory filing sites, is outside our control.
